from our Principal...
Constantiaberg Pre-Primary (CBPP) is a Christian based school whose ethos is to teach children through play. Play, always under the supervision and guidance of teachers allows for independent thinking and learning as children discover things for themselves.
We provide a nurturing, caring environment which enables children to feel loved and safe at school. Without a feeling of safety, trust is diminished and children struggle to feel confident.
We focus on social and emotional skills, including manners and behaviour, from the beginning of the year. We feel they are as important as academic and physical skills. We cover all areas of children's development to ensure they are well rounded individuals who have confidence and a good self esteem.
In 1945 Buxton Nursery school Teachers Training College established Pollsmoor Nursery school. It was housed in part of the Military Camp for the children of ex servicemen. It was a demonstration school for students at the training college. By 1951 they had 36 children attending and 2 classes.

The Pre-School staff members have a wealth of experience which is backed by a variety of qualifications. Children enjoy close, personal attention from their teachers, whose aim is to equip them with all the skills needed for school readiness and life in general. Each class has a teacher and an assistant. This enables us to enjoy individual time with the children as well as assess them in small groups. The staff are all trained in first aid and regularly attend courses to update and develop their skills, knowledge, and understanding of pre-schoolers’ needs.
